As a beautiful shaped models collector, this reincarnation of 507 was a must have for me. Is not mandatory to be a Bond fan to like this car, the aggressive thin shape, the shadows of the past still present in the design lines and all of this put together with an immense engine power are making from this car a dream for many people. AutoArt replicated this beautiful car in scale and they did it well. From the start must be mentioned that the model was released some years ago. From the exterior is looking lovely, they caught the line of the body design perfectly. The paint is superb, well applied, shinny and deep. All the chromed parts look excellent, even if some of them are very thin, like the front mask frame and after all those years no sign of age could be find on it. The lights are in the same way, beautiful made and discrete if we are looking to the rear ones and attached without visible stubs. Everywhere around the air intakes provide real meshes, even that one from the sides little air vents.
The main BMW badges on the both lids are raised pieces and are perfectly done. Nothing less when we are to observe the wheels: accurate rims following the original design, a lug nut marked with the constructor logo and in the spirit of old models, we have branded tires. Everything here is completed by the great looking brake disks. What they did here is exemplary: a thin metallic part replicating the steel, was applied to the disk surface. The result is amazing and gives a strong note of realty! Unfortunately the calipers ruin the general view, being made of cheap looking black plastic. Both doors and bonnets can be opened. On my model, but I think not only , being a general problem with many other models from that generation, the bonnets can’t stay open by itself.
The interior is quite superb, the red color comes in a perfect contrast with the black shade of the body. This was the main reason that made me to buy the model. On the dashboard they have replicated some buttons and the central block of indicators, that are visible and quite good looking. Unfortunately they chose to paint in silver the gear shift in order to replicate the chrome from the real car. A chromed part would be perfect there. Are few things that I like most here: the red carpet, the metallic photo etched spokes from the steering wheel and the superior part of the dash board painted in glossy black paint like the real one. The seat belts are made of textile material.
Unfortunately moving the sight to the engine bay, nothing special could be find. The engine is quite boring, too much cheap plastic, a few separate parts, few wires, but still nothing to catch my attention. The trunk is carpeted in the same lovely red carpet as the interior.
In the end I can say that this is a good model, over the other models released in the same period. The exterior is superb, the shade contrast between body and cockpit is fantastic, all of this are giving a great look to the model. Is a pity that they missed the chance to create a better engine replica. More than that a hard top was a great feature for this model. Just look at Kyosho dealer edition and you'll understand what I mean. This version still has an affordable price, but if you want something more exclusive you can go for the " 007" edition where you can enjoy the active weapons.
