After almost two weeks sitting on my desk, is the right time to conclude the review of a model from a manufacturer that made me curious for so long. Thanks to an important german reseller who refused to send our order for a still unknown reason, we had to wait until some eBay auctions closed very favorable to us and finnaly some models made by Spark Models came in the house! I was very curious about this brand and I need to say, if you aren't in the racing area or in a 1:43 scale, your choices are quite limited. I have for the first, a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S type 997, made for Porsche Dealers, this means it will come with a particular box and a showcase.
Together with the Spark exclusive edition for Porsche, I received another Porsche model that I'll review later, from other producer, but always dedicated to Porsche Manufacture. Between those models are a lot of similarities in detailing and I can confirm them on different products from diverse manufacturers that are producing models for Porsche, too and I can't say exactly if they are made by an unique manufacturer and sold separately, after. The Spark brand appeared only on the selling announce and isn't mentioned on the box or on the model.

As I mentioned above, the package includes a show case of good quality and this fact is reflected for sure in the initial price. The model itself is looking very good, is perfectly painted, has the right proportions and a great stance. I forgot to tell you, this 911 is a part of a very limited tribute series called Endurance racing edition, to the car that won the Le Mans, so the "Porsche Intelligent Performance" decals remind the winning car livery. On the model is clearly visible we have a decal and not a paint job, not disturbing until you see that the car's lettering on the rear are an one piece decal, too. This scale model itself comes in a very limited series of only 300 pieces, each one individually numbered. The model is resin made, sealed, as you already have imagined, but very heavy for a model of this kind. Is carefully made and finished without any tracks of glue and the film made windows seem to be fixed much better than on other resin models.
I like very much the lights, very good detailed, a big plus for the presence of washers on the front sides, nice put in evidence by chromed plastic dots. The front air intakes are open and let visible behind the cooling radiators, as long, on the rear side, the famous engine grill is deep cut and textured to be close as much as possible to the real piece. The attention is catched in particular by the metallic parts of the final exhaust system, bringing definitely their part of realism on the model. Are very precise moulded, too, on the both extremities of the model body, the parking sensors.

The wheels are rotating together for every axle, but not steering and are very well detailed, the rims are keeping in the middle a Porsche emblem decal and wear soft tires. I find great made the braking system, having all four brake discs covered with a metallic dimpled coat and painted and Porsche branded calipers. From the exterior, the producer's effort has materialised in a great product to be displayed in a Porsche showroom.

The interior was replicated well, but not detailed as I will like to be, somehow they let it down, because of the sealed body. I would like to have flock on the floor, fabric seat belts instead of the plastic ones, a better detailed console, because a simply sticker is a cheap way to detail at this level, the only things that should be mentioned are the steering wheel and the carbon accents on the door panels and on the central console. No details can be seen underneath, excepting a modest replicated and painted exhaust system. |
This 911scale replica can be displayed with success in the Porsche showrooms, the manufacturer concentrate all this attention to create a beautiful detailed and finished exterior. For someone who collects models in scale, will lack many aspects in the interior detailing and of course who will enter in a Porsche showroom will concentrate his attention somewhere else than on the displayed scale models. If we are to speak about the price, even if is a dealer edition and comes with a showbox, the initial price isn't justified. Lucky, today the prices are fair enough in many places to encourage any collector to add in his collection an official Porsche product.
