Only one real JOTA existed, and that was accidentally destroyed, the remaining Miura SVJ's are based on normal Miura P400. Many clients asked to have their P400 changed into a copy of the beautiful JOTA. Although not one is identical to the original, many just copied the body features.
What Kyosho did is a fantastic job, stance looks great, paint job is perfect and details are finely made. My option was for the purple shade, very hard now to find and must say it has a major contribution to the general „exotic car” feeling. The meshes are real, exept the ones behind doors. Lights are a perfect reproduction with no attachment stubs. |
The doors, engine cover, rear boot, front compartment and a filler cap can be all opened. Hinges are quite superb. The „Lamborghini” badge in the front is extraordinary done, very realistic and I appreciate that they avoid to replicate it as an ordinary sticker.
The carpeted interior is another thumbs up. Seat belts are separate while the rest is hard black plastic. The accuracy is perfect and detailing is quite superb. The seats are a Recaro race spec, but aren't marked on the model.
Wheels and functional suspension are yet another strong point. The wheels are quite realistic in gold and silver, it's even got a valve! The Pirelli tires are not marked. The worse part has to be the brake section, they are not well detailed. They are supposed to be just like the Porsche 917's as this custom used a system taken from that Porsche but the model just has a plain piece of grey plastic with both caliper and disk static. The undercarriage is quite good. Mostly sealed in black, it does show some other details in the engine and axle area.
Kyosho's effort is sometimes clouded by 'inaccuracy comments'. Its quite hard to consider this as all SVJ are marginally different. In conclusion, this is one of the best Kyosho’s model and has the best details for a model in its range. If you like the model for what the real car was or if you like the fine details, this is a model to have.
The car's engine is another area which varied from version to version and is very hard to say how accurate it is. If this is chassis 3781, the engine was rumored to be converted into dry sump, modified cams were mounted together with open Weber carburetors and a very loud race type exhaust system was installed. Kyosho made his job here perfectly, too. Its all wired up, no excess chrome, everything looks so like the real thing. For sure many models in this range can’t be even closer, if we speak about details. Under the front bonnet we can find the same level of details: wires, transparent hoses, which look awesome if you ask me, the battery very realistic done, they replied even the stickers on it. But, what I really like is the horn, so nicely made and painted in red, is absolutly an eye catcher. The suspension’s springs also painted in red are easy to observe and represent a great detail. The bonnet has a functional little strut, but doesn’t keep it open by itself.
